A little legacy

What is the legacy you’re leaving? Perhaps you’re like us, having nothing material to pass on—except maybe the pages of a well-worn Bible and the stories that made your life what it is today. That’s okay.
As I read the Word this morning from 2 Corinthians 8, the end of the chapter—verse 14—was of great encouragement to me as I was reflecting. “At this present time your plenty will supply what they need.” I said, “Lord, what plenty?” He replied, “Love, kindness, caring, and compassion.”
Something beautiful did happen this week. A little baby girl was born called Ella. The name Ella means light. Children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3). Don’t take my word for it—read for yourself how precious our children, young and old, are to the Lord.
The backstory: the chance meeting (nothing is by chance), every meeting a divine connection. I met a beautiful soul in Hawaii. After spending some time with her and getting to know her, she confided in me that she was pregnant. She was feeling ashamed and alone. For the rest of my time in Hawaii, our coffee and coconut water were shared while discussing God’s incredible love for her and her child—babies, their needs, a mom’s needs, preparation, and prayer.
Those of you who have read our posts from the beginning will remember how I was managing the boutique. What a blessing that turned out to be, as I was able to find many items and clothes for this child yet to be born.
Sadly, I had to leave before Ella was born. However, contact continues, deepening our friendship, and her mom is sending me photos of her precious child.
We may think we’re insignificant in the big scheme of things. What does it matter if we stop to talk to someone, or lend a hand, share a cup of coffee, acknowledge someone’s pain—do we make a difference in that life?
Yes. Your kindness speaks volumes.
It’s the little things that matter most, and they’re things we’re all able to accomplish in one way or another.
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
Psalm 78:4
